In most modern institutional churches, there is no opportunity for the body of Christ to function. We’re not allowed to serve one another by using our spiritual gifts. Odds are, most of us don’t even know what our spiritual gifts are because we’ve never been given the chance to discover and use them. Instead, we have to sit passive in the pew or chair while we watch what’s going on up front and listen to one person’s opinions of something in the Bible.
